7 Easy Ways to Harness the Power of the Summer Solstice to Boost Your Well-being



The Summer Solstice has been celebrated for thousands of years and across many cultures around the world. Apart from marking the longest day and the half way point of the year it is also a time of growth and renewal. The Solstice offers an opportunity for self-healing and reflection whilst at the same time the energy boost of midsummer enables you to make a fresh start and look at ways to rejuvenate your body and celebrate a new healthier and happier you. This astrologically powerful day can be the perfect time to recharge your mind, body and spirit. Below are a few ways to make the most of the summer solstice to give your well-being a boost.


1. Spend time outside

The sun’s energy is so beneficial for your overall health and well-being and helps you to re-balance and lifts your mood. Take advantage of this warmer time of year to spend time outdoors in a park or your garden and notice how nature all around you responds to sun's energy from plants to wildlife. Connect back to the earth to recharge your energy by walking barefoot or just sit on the grass. Going for a walk, run or even a bike ride will also give you an added health and well-being boost. Also being in the sun for a few minutes every day provides you with your daily dose of vitamin D which helps prevent loss of bone density and other problems.



2. Enjoy natures kitchen

During this time of year there is usually an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables on offer. Try eating a clean and green diet throughout the summer months. It can also be an easier time to try a detox as you may not feel the need to eat as much in hot weather. Also remember to drink plenty of water during warmer weather to support your body and mind by maintaining optimal levels of hydration.


3.Nurture yourself

Now is the perfect time to look at your own needs and self-care. Are you taking time out for yourself or are you running around making sure everyone else is ok. Notice how you are really feeling. Are you getting enough sleep, eating healthily and doing some form of exercise? Use this summer solstice to look at ways to make positive changes to your self care and lifestyle in general where possible.


4. Review and set new intentions

The summer solstice is a good time to revisit and review your goals. Have you achieved what you wanted so far this year? This may have been difficult with the restrictions around for Coronavirus but you can still ask yourself if you are you aligned with your goals. Maybe it is time to make changes and plan your next steps. Take a moment to sit quietly with yourself and listen to your inner voice to find out what you really want and what’s important to you at a deeper level. Set new intentions – make a list of things you want to bring into your life and focus the new positive energy of the solstice on that.


5. Pause and rebalance

The past few months have been very strange for most of us during the coronavirus pandemic. If you have found yourself feeling stressed then use the time of the summer solstice to take a moment to pause and rebalance, restore your energy and connect back to yourself. If you have been under a lot of pressure you need a break to disrupt the stress cycle you are in. You can do this through simple breathing or mindfulness exercises, meditation, quiet time alone or with healing therapies such as Reiki which help re-balance a disrupted flow of energy within the body. Use the energy of the summer solstice to replenish your inner self and take time out to relax and be you.


6. Be open to change

Summer solstice energy is fast paced so allow it to motivate you and give you increased confidence. The summer is represented by the element of fire. Allow the summer solstice energy to give you strength and courage to burn away the things that are no longer serving you so your life can be purified and transformed like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Use this time to identify and clear out old patterns and habits that are no longer supporting you. 7 . Give thanks for the sun

Like the ancients before you, take a moment to honour the power of the sun. Feel yourself connected by watching the sunrise or sunset. Without it there wouldn't be life so be grateful for all its blessings. The time of the Summer Solstice is a moment that can remind you to look beyond the everyday way of being and help you to make more positive and conscious changes to support your well-being. Also when you become more in tune with the cycles of nature your life will flow much easier.
