12 Ways to Feel Good All Day

Updated: Sep 24, 2022

Do you feel good during the day or do you struggle to make it through and just feel relieved when you manage to survive to the days end? Are you often pulled in all directions, consumed with stress, anxiety and worries, low on energy and enthusiasm? Is there is always something to deal with other than taking care of your own health and wellbeing? If this sounds familiar then read on as there are a few things you can do to help yourself feel better.

Incorporate some of the following things into your day to to nurture your mind, body, and spirit and notice the difference:

MIND

  • Elevate your thoughts – avoid continually focusing on things which are not good in your life. This is not always easy to do if you are going through a hard time but having an attitude of gratitude, even for the little things that are good, can make a difference. Bring to mind 3-5 things you are grateful for at the start and end of each day.

  • Set some positive goals – having a goal to work towards can help you feel more fulfilled. At the start of everyday take a moment to focus on what you want to achieve during the day and work towards that. Also having a to-do list can keep you on track, make your mind feel less cluttered and better able to manage stress and anxiety.

  • Stop spiralling negative thoughts – are you prone to getting sucked into negative thought patterns which make you feel upset or anxious? When you notice this happening stop it in its tracks by practising mindfulness – purposely pay attention to the present moment with all of your senses, notice what you are doing and what is around you instead of focusing on the thoughts in your head. This helps reduce feelings of stress and anxiety and can help you live happier.

  • Aim to have a good day – First thing in the morning set the intention that no matter what happens you will have a good day and feel good because you deserve to. Ask yourself how you can make your day more amazing, what little thing can you do to contribute to your day being great and to help yourself feel good. Maybe it's a chat with a friend or trip to a place you enjoy.

BODY

  • Exercise daily - I am sure you already know the benefits of regular exercise for your overall wellbeing so make sure you are incorporating some into your day. Exercise also releases endorphins making you feel happier. For an extra feel good boost, exercise outdoors in nature!

  • Eat healthy high-frequency foods – Fresh fruit, salad, vegetables, legumes, nuts and whole grains are the fuel for your body to be healthy. All these can help to make you feel more positive too. Avoid low-frequency foods such as processed as much as possible. These often contain high levels of fat, salt and sugar and unwanted additives which can make you feel tired, low in mood and unable to think clearly.

  • Stay hydrated – Water is the elixir of life and will help to flush toxins out of your system. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fresh water daily, preferably filtered and cut down on fizzy drinks, alcohol and caffeine. Keeping well hydrated can help you stay alert, prevent headaches and also help keep anxiety at bay.

  • Make sleep a priority – Sleep is not a luxury, it is vital for your health and wellbeing. During sleep your body has a chance to rest and repair. Getting a good night's sleep improves longevity and will help you to feel good and function better during the day.

SPIRIT

  • Re-connect Meditation allows you some quite time to re-connect to your true authentic self at a higher level and can help you feel more calm and grounded during the day. Try to incorporate a 10 minute meditation into your morning routine.

  • Be Kind – Being kind to others is so good for your spirit and makes you feel happier. Pay someone a compliment or just do something nice for someone. If you have the time or money then donate to a charity you are passionate about or even volunteer.

  • Smile – Even if you are having a bad day reminding yourself to smile sometimes can make you feel better and trick your brain into thinking you are happier as it spurs a chemical reaction in your brain.

  • Enjoy – Lose yourself in doing something you love at some point during the day whether that's a hobby, reading or just enjoying a walk outdoors noticing nature or time with a friend or loved one.

Nurture your mind, body and spirit and take the best care of you, every day.
